WEBINAR | Force Majeure: Where Do I Stand? | Legal Q&A: Ask Us Anything | April, 9

Alice Stephenson is joined by Bellevue Law founder Florence Brocklesby and leading litigation and disputes lawyer James Pheasant to answer more of your COVID-19 related questions.

During part one the panel examined different force majeure clauses and walked through some real-life scenarios. James Pheasant has prepared a helpful factsheet that can be downloaded here. Part two consisted of our usual open Q&A where the panel answered the following questions:

Should people on Furlough get bank holidays put back into their annual leave allowance? 43:40

What can you tell us about the new guidance issued by the government regarding furlough? 48:53

We have furloughed a number of our team. We have been running while remote a number of additional virtual social events (e.g. lunchtime exercise sessions, quizzes, Friday afternoon drinks). Is it OK for those on furlough to still attend? One potential complication, pre-furlough, we did post some of these sessions on our B2B social media channels. 52:57

We made an employee redundant prior to the COVID-19 outbreak who was working their three month notice period. That person’s work now has disappeared; can we furlough them for the remainder of their notice period? Or are we obligated to pay their full notice? 56:40

Has the government issued any guidance on whether furloughed and non-furloughed employees can temporarily opt out of their company cars and save the tax otherwise payable? 58:14
