What is the usual turnaround time for work? Can we expect a same-day response?
In accordance with our service levels, we aim to respond to all work requests as soon as we can, and we’ll always confirm receipt of your request and provide you with an estimated turnaround time for our advice on the same working day (if received within our normal business hours).
Where we can provide ‘same day’ advice we will – but obviously, larger or more complicated pieces of work will take time to complete. The advantage of using our Subscription is that there is no messing around with fee quotes and instruction letters – provided we don’t have any conflicts, we can get started on providing solutions to your legal problems straight away.
For the Quarterly Subscription, if we don’t use all of our purchased block time for a particular month, can we roll that time into the next month?
No, unused time can’t be rolled over to the next month. We’ll update you on how much time you’ve used regularly throughout each month, and if we’re getting towards the end of a month with a considerable amount of time left to use, we’ll get in touch to see if there’s anything useful we can do to use up as much of your purchased time as we can – reviewing templates, providing or updating policies and so on.
For the Annual Subscription, if we don’t use all of our purchased block time for a particular Quarter, can we roll that time into the next Quarter?
No, unused time cannot be rolled over to the next Quarter. We’ll update you on how much time you’ve used regularly throughout each Quarter, and if we’re getting towards the end of a Quarter with a considerable amount of time left to use, we’ll get in touch to see if there’s anything useful we can do to use up as much of your purchased time as we can – reviewing templates, providing or updating policies and so on.
Can we buy new blocks part-way through a Quarter if our usage is higher than expected?
No, you can’t purchase additional blocks during a Quarter. Additional time will be charged at the overage rate, and you have the option to increase your purchased blocks during the next quarter.
Is there a maximum amount of block time we can purchase? Are there any weekly/monthly use limits?
Generally, we work to a ‘reasonable use’ limit of 6 blocks per month, to allow us to provide appropriate levels of service to all of our clients, meaning a normal maximum purchase of 18 blocks per Quarterly Period. However, if you feel you will need more support than this for any particular period, just talk to us and we’ll see if there’s a way we can provide you with the resources you require.
What do we do if we need support from the different SL teams, like corporate or employment?
If you need advice that the Subscription Team can’t provide (we primarily handle commercial and data protection work), or you’re not sure exactly what support you do need, just let your dedicated SL contact know – we’ll arrange for the appropriate team to support you and make sure they know exactly what they need to know about your team, business and set-up to ensure you get an efficient, effective service. Where the required services fall are excluded from the Subscription, we’ll coordinate arranging a quote for you.
Can you arrange legal support for areas which SL can’t support, or for overseas legal counsel?
Absolutely – your booked time can be used to arrange support from non-SL lawyers, whether that’s for UK lawyers where we don’t cover the services provided (such as property), or for non-UK legal resources.
Where required, we’ll also help you interpret and apply the advice you receive from non-SL legal teams using our knowledge of the commercial and legal aspects of your business.
How do we communicate with you day-to-day?
We primarily use email and Slack to provide our advice and support. If you’ll have a significant number of concurrent ongoing matters, we can discuss setting up a shared Trello board to help you keep track.
If we don’t enjoy working with you, can we have a refund?
We’re sure you’re going to love working with us, but we understand that committing to a full 3 months before you’ve worked with our team can be daunting.
So, if during the first 30 days of working with us, you don’t feel you’re getting an awesome service and great value for money, then we’ll happily refund any unused blocks and end your Subscription. After the initial 30-day period, no refunds will be given.
