Meet the Flockers: Jessica Taylor

May 28, 2020

Our Meet the Flockers series is our opportunity to get to know the flock a little better. We stop, take a minute, and ask the hard-hitting questions...

From favourite films, to bucket list wishes, this series sheds a light on what makes the SLHQ team tick.

Introducing Jess Taylor, talented multi-linguist, exceptional solicitor, and a huge Harry Potter fan! Take it away Jess...

What fictional place would you most like to go?

It has to be Hogwarts! I’ve been a Harry Potter fan from the get-go and I still love it.  I once had a first edition after queuing for hours as a teenager but I gave it to a friend for her 21st birthday. I can’t think of anything better than hanging out with Dobby in the Gryffindor common room!

What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

Dogs. I didn’t grow up with animals as my mum has asthma and we mainly lived in rented properties so I couldn’t have pets. I used to be quite scared of dogs but over the last couple of years I have spent lots of time with my partner’s parents’ dogs and I love them. I can’t wait to get my own.

Unpopular opinion game: name three things you don’t like but everyone else does – go!

Jam, baked beans and tomato ketchup! People always think I’m strange, especially with jam.

What is the most heart-warming thing you’ve ever seen?

My mum moved away to Cornwall a couple of years ago and my little nephew really missed her but he couldn’t really speak then, so the only way he could express himself was to find a picture of her and kiss it. It definitely made me cry!

What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?

I was lucky enough to be selected to attend the Sorbonne University in Paris as part of my degree when there were only 10 places available.  I got to spend a year in one of the most beautiful (but expensive) cities in the world and spent every weekend exploring and drinking wine on our Parisian balcony.

It was the best year of my life so far.
