Meet our team: Charlie Bestall
In the second installment of our meet the team series we catch-up with SLHQ Marketing Manager Charlie Bestall.
Hi Charlie, what are you working on at Stephenson Law right now?
I’m currently working on a new website for the business as our offering has developed significantly over the last year. The updated site will show how we differ from traditional lawyers and showcase the values that are important to us as a firm. It’ll also focus on the different businesses we work with and feature more expansive ‘service’ and ‘team’ sections.
What are your personal values?
I’d like to think I share similar values to most people. Firstly, I believe it’s important to be empathetic and to try and see things from other people’s point of view. I understand we can all play the role of stressed human, but where possible it’s nice to be nice. For personal growth I believe you can’t be afraid to start something. Whether it be that trip, project or big move – if the very worst that could happen isn’t that bad – just get going. Finally, you have to look for the best in things and try to be an optimist, don’t you? ‘No’, shout the pessimists!
What’s something you’ve done, but will never do again?
Way back in 2007 I travelled across China by train; visiting Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Shanghai and Hong Kong in the process. It was an eye-opening experience and I learnt a lot – particularly the importance of non-verbal communication. 12 years on and far flung adventures are no longer part of the plan. Instead, I’m looking forward to exploring places closer to home, with Scotland and Italy the next two on the list.
Are you a cat or a dog person (or neither)?
100% in the canine camp on this one. I understand dogs can shed a lot, drool a lot and are generally needier than cats but that’s a small price to play. Happy to debate this with any feline fans and ask how many guide cats, police cats, assistance cats and sniffer cats they’ve met…
Next week we’ll be saying hello to Trainee Solicitor Yuliya Prokopyshyn. If you have a question for any members of the SLHQ team, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
