Meet our team: Michelle Correia
Here at SLHQ we pride ourselves on being the total opposite of a stuffy corporate law firm. This is due in no small part to our close-knit team, dedicated to helping our clients, our partners and each other day in, day out.
In her role as Chief Client Officer, Michelle Correia makes sure that our clients are at the heart of everything we do. She manages the lawyers in our team and – drawing on her extensive in-house experience – ensures that we provide clients with high quality, business-focused advice that is practical and straightforward.
To kick-off a new series of posts introducing different members of the flock, we sat down with Michelle to find out more about her motivations, favourite place and a new hobby.
What gets you up and motivated in the morning?
A cuppa tea and 10 minutes peace. Can someone send my children the memo! I’m actually really lucky, my family are awesome and I have a job that I love. It feels like years of really hard work are starting to pay off, which is really motivating.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome?
Growing up in deprived neighbourhood. As a young girl wanting to be a solicitor, it was tough to find a role model and career advice. I was the first person in my family to go to university and the school fees even then felt shocking. I also ended up taking the long route into my career because I desperately wanted to avoid the stuffy law firms!
Where’s your favourite place in the world?
Agios Stefanos in Corfu. A small fishing harbour with stunning views of the Ionian and Albanian mountains. If I could teleport, you’d find me there every lunchtime at one of the tavernas.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love playing tennis and started taking lessons a couple of years ago. My son is learning and I quickly realised that it could get embarrassing if I didn’t up my game.
Next week we’ll be introducing Charlie Bestall, our Marketing Manager at SLHQ. In the meantime, if you have questions for Michelle or anybody else in the team, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
